Austin Brooks, Carmel Christian
Brooks tied for seventh place at the NCISAA 2A championships with rounds of 78 and 75 for a two-day 153. The all-state selection is still just a sophomore and has a bright future for the Cougars.
Colin Browning, Providence
Browning was the Panthers’ best and most consistent golfer this season. He showed why at the end-of-year matches. Browning fired a 73 to tie for fifth in the Western Regional. He bounced back from a 78 to shoot 74 and finished tied for 16th in the state with a two-day score of 152.
Graham Chase, Ardrey Kell
Chase had a great season for the Knights, finishing tied for 12th in the Western Regional after a round of 76. Chase followed that up with rounds of 74 and 77 for a two-day 151 that left him tied for 11th at the state championship.
Thomas Eubanks, Myers Park
The top golfer on traditionally one of the best teams in the state, Eubanks played great all year. After shooting a 74 to finish tied for 12th in the region. He took third in the state with rounds of 75 and 71 leaving him with a two-day 146.
Drew Hackett, Charlotte Catholic
The 3A champion Cougars relied heavily on Hackett and he delivered when it mattered most. The South Charlotte Weekly Player of the Year shot a 74 to tie for third in the region, but carded rounds of 76 and 74 to tie for fourth at the state championship with a two-day score of 150.
Luke Hackworth, Myers Park
Hackworth is another of the Mustang power hitters who had a phenomenal season. This year, he tied for fourth in the region by shooting a 72. He closed the season with a two-day 151 that placed him tied for 11th in the state.
Jack Hart, Charlotte Catholic
Hart was consistently at the top of the leaderboard for the NCHSAA 3A champs. At the regional championship, Hart carded a 74 to tie for third. The next weekend he shot a 152 (77, 75) to tie for seventh and help the Cougars raise their championship.
Jack Heath, Charlotte Catholic
Heath was the third member of the state champs to finish within the top six in the region and among the top 15 at the state. He shot a 75 at the regional championship to tie for sixth and secured big points for the Cougars with his two-day score of 154 (76, 78) that tied him for 13th.
Austin Sharrett, Charlotte Latin
Sharrett shot a par 72 in the opening round of the NCISAA championship to lead all area golfers. Although his second roung of 80 dropped the Hawks star into a tie for 13th place, he still was the top 3A golfer and wrapped up consistent season for Latin.
Cameron Whitney, Ardrey Kell
Whitney had a Day 1 lead at the NCHSAA championship, but ended up finishing fourth in the state with a two-day score of 147 to lead a talented Ardrey Kell team. The sophomore also tied with 12th in the region after a round of 76.
