CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Mechanical will wrap up its ninth annual Charlotte Coat Drive, which benefits the Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte, with the Warmup Finale Party.
The finale, held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15 outside of Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, features a lively party, replete with entertainment and food. Visitors may drop off new or gently used coats in a drive-through fashion or stay to enjoy activities.
In the morning, visitors can warm up with coffee and biscuit sandwiches and enjoy music from 107.9 the Link. Homer the Dragon and Chubby from the Charlotte Checkers will make special appearances.
Makeup artist Lindsey Regan Thorne will conduct a “Warm Up Your Winter Look” makeup tutorial from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CrossFit Dilworth will kick off the “Warm Up Your Muscles” series with the first of two sweat express classes (from 11:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 1:30 p.m.) in its gym. At noon, Lem Houston will heat things up with an outdoor cardio funk class.
A new or gently used coat or a $10 donation is required to participate in any of the workout classes.
Charlotte Mechanical will provide box lunches from Dilworth Neighborhood Grille. A DJ will keep the energy high all day.
The goal of the drive is to collect 5,000 coats. Coats will be distributed to the Salvation Army’s men, women and children’s shelters and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
