CHARLOTTE – K-12 students learn how to take informed civic action through GenerationNation’s student election program.
Students have the opportunity to cast ballots at school or online through Nov. 5 and at 10 Mecklenburg County libraries on Oct. 28, as well as take part in service-learning volunteer opportunities.
Students will weigh in on mayor, school board and the county sales tax, plus elect the next Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education student advisor. Results of the student vote will be announced Nov. 5.
GenerationNation offers lessons, resources and activities that are age-appropriate, easy to integrate into existing lesson plans and based on curriculum standards, literacy and critical thinking. The program is nonpartisan.
