Jennifer Fagan is passionate about her four-legged friends, and has taken that passion and turned it into Fluffs of Luv – a quickly expanding pet business in Pineville.
Fluffs of Luv has moved into a larger space on Main Street and is adding dog grooming, dog training and pet supplies to its existing pet sitting services.
Fagan, who received a degree in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, started her company in 2007 because she wasn’t satisfied working in the corporate world. Since opening, Fagan’s company has grown into a business that employs seven people who work in the office, including Fagan, and 57 pet sitters and one dog trainer who are independent contractors.
“I wanted something more, and this really is my something more,” she said. “The piece of mind we’re able to deliver (to pet owners) is huge.”
Fagan believes in hard work and establishing trust with her clients. Everyone employed at Fluffs of Luv goes through a background check because “you have to have trust to go into someone’s home,” she said.
Fagan wants Fluffs of Luv to be a one-stop-shop for pet owners, who will still receive the same quality of service they have come to expect from the business.
“It’s important to educate the pet-owning public about the benefits professional pet services offer their furry family members. Whether you are going out of town and need a pet sitter, running low on dog food or your pup needs to freshen up their look, Fluffs of Luv has you covered,” Fagan said in a news release.
Pet sitting can be hard work, Fagan said, adding pet sitters work every day with no holiday breaks. But the constant work doesn’t bother Fagan, who said her team works hard and “gets things done.”
Her passion and love of animals is the easiest part of her job, Fagan said. Nancy Smith, office manager at Fluffs of Luv, agrees.
“Pets are very therapeutic,” she said, adding animals love their owners no matter if they are having a good or bad day.
Besides her passion for animals – as a small business owner – Fagan loves being able to provide jobs to the community as well as being able to help people provide for themselves.
She said people who are thinking about opening up their own business should, “thoroughly research and talk to other people in the business to get tips.” Fagan said she has learned a lot since she first opened her business including all of the rules and regulations to owning a company.
Fluffs of Luv held a grand opening on Oct. 19. The business is located at 315 Main St. Find more information at www.FluffsofLuv.com.
