It has been another competitive season among high school boys’ lacrosse teams in south Charlotte.
Ardrey Kell, Charlotte Catholic and Myers Park are among the area’s best. The No. 8-seeded Knights (15-4) host No. 11-seeded Grimsley (11-5) in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs Friday, May 5, at 7 p.m.
The No. 5-seeded Cougars (14-4) entertain No. 19-seeded Butler (7-7) in the second round of the state playoffs Friday, May 5, at 7 p.m. Myers Park was bounced from the playoffs by a 20-2 first round loss to Southeast Guilford.
On the private schools’ side, Providence Day, Charlotte Country Day and Charlotte Latin are among the top teams coming out of the CISAA with the start of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state playoffs just a week away.
The Charges (16-3) are unblemished through conference play, but their regular season and league finale at Country Day (15-7) Friday, May 5, at 4:30 p.m. will be a test. Providence Day edged the Buccaneers 10-9 in overtime earlier this season.
