girls2Carolina Cats take three girls lacrosse titles 

The Charlotte Elite’s Carolina Cats’ girls lacrosse team has had quite a productive summer, capping it off with their third consecutive tournament title – this time taking first place in the High Point Play-by-day tournament, which they won on June 29.

The team also has captured tournament wins this summer in the Carolina Cats invitational and won the Asheville Classic middle school crown.

The Carolina Juniors Volleyball’s Under-15 team Blaze scored another impressive tournament victory recently when they won the Yellow Division Open Championship at the AAU national championships in Orlando June 20 to 23. The Open Championship pits some of the best teams from around the country against one another.

The Blaze won the Yellow Division title by defeating Epic-15 Breezy, 2-1, (21-25, 25-22 and 15-13) and claimed the championship by knocking off Tri-State Elite 15-1 by a score of 2-1 (22-25, 25-21 and 15-9).

The Blaze played 10 matches at the tournament, going 5-5, and finished 36th out of 45 teams in their division.



Providence Day’s Kase Diehl finishes top three at HJGT Myrtle Beach event

Providence Day rising sophomore Kase Diehl fired a final round 73 to finish tied for third at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Myrtle Beach Golf Holliday Junior Classic, which concluded on June 22 at Wicked Stick Golf Links in Surfside Beach, S.C.

Diehl had a two-day total of 149, which tied him with Vijay Mishra, a resident of Myrtle Beach, after the Charger shot rounds of 76 and 73.

Charlotte Latin’s Loius Lambert had rounds of 81 and 75 for a total of 156, which tied for 14th at the event. Forty golfers competed in the 15-18 year old division.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was founded in 2008 to provide junior golfers between the ages of 11 and 18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18, and compete in tournaments throughout the region.
