Latin volleyball improves to 10-0

Charlotte Latin won the NCVA New York Life Classic Volleyball Tournament (formerly the Super Six Tournament) on Aug. 25 in Greensboro. The Hawks have won the tournament every year since its inception in 2005.

The Hawks defeated High Point Wesleyan Christian, United Faith, Providence Day and Covenant Day to secure the title.

Latin’s Eve Davis was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Teammates Emma Price and Kellie Williams made the all-tournament team, along with. Covenant Day’s Shelby Nassar. Hawks Brook Brown and Chandler Dalton also had strong showings.

• On Aug. 27, the Hawks continued their strong play, topping Charlotte Catholic in straight sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-19).
Davis had 22 kills, 11 digs and four assists; Price had 35 assists and 15 digs; Williams had 13 kills and 17 digs; and Carrie Mittl had 11 digs.

Latin improved its record to 10-0, while Catholic dipped to 5-2.
