CHARLOTTE – Jitterbug is revolutionizing the “hotel-on-wheels.”
Using custom-built coaches, the company will take you and your family as far as Florida in either a junior or first-class cabin complete with Wi-Fi, big-screen TV, mini-fridge, bathrooms and sleeping quarters.
Jay Jovick, creator of Jitterbug, said he got the inspiration to create the business from growing up in a five-person family.
“Everyone who flies has an air travel horror story,” Jovick said. “We felt family and group travel didn’t have to be so hard. Overnight door-to-door service eliminates the hassles of air travel and has the added benefit of getting rid of wasted travel days.”
First-class cabins comfortably seat six and include one queen-sized bed, one bunk bed and one loft. The junior cabins comfortably seats five but only sleeps two, having just one bunk bed.
The coaches are eight feet wide and seven feet tall. The junior being just a bit shorter than the first class.
With its top destination being Disney World, the company is focused on connecting Charlotte with North Florida destinations. This includes beaches, cruise ports and theme parks.
Jitterbug will also travel to anywhere within a 12-hour radius.
A 12-hour, overnight drive with Jitterbug is less expensive than flying coach. Price varies based on route, cabin, number of passengers and trip timing. Other than its mandated weight limit, there are no luggage fees.
All of Jitterbug’s drivers undergo a road test complete with a background check. In addition to the trained driver, Jitterbug’s goal is to become the safest ground transportation on the road.
