Local nonprofit picked for initiative

The Respite: A Centre for Grief & Hope was recently picked to be part of Field for Hope.

The group, made up of 15 international nonprofits, will work to “eradicate the stigma of depression by raising money and planting sunflowers,” according to a news release. The program is run by the International Foundation for Research and Education on Depression.

The Respite, located at 4919 Monroe Road, provides people with a holistic approach to confronting grief and loss. Find more information at the group’s website, www.therespite.org.
