Starting Monday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police will close westbound Ballantyne Commons Parkway between North Community House Road and Johnston Road, and eastbound Ballantyne Corporate Place east of Brixham Hill Drive all the way to Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Only tenants at the nearby office buildings and residents of select communities will be given passes to drive in the area, and all other traffic will be restricted. Those restrictions will remain in place until Sept. 7, a Friday, at noon.
Extra streets will close on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 9 a.m. Authorities will shut down eastbound Ballantyne Commons Parkway at Johnston Road, limiting access for residents of the Camden Ballantyne apartment complex at Summit Commons Boulevard. Residents of Ballantyne Country Club also will see restricted access via Ballantyne Forest Drive from westbound Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Residents can use eastbound Ballantyne Commons Parkway until Wednesday morning.
Those seeing to reach the corporate park’s Harris and Premier buildings, the Aloft Hotel and Dana Radar Golf School will have some access from eastbound Ballantyne Corporate Park. Other buildings in the park also will have restricted access.
According to a release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, eastbound passenger vehicle thru traffic will be allowed on Ballantyne Commons Parkway between Johnston Road and North Community House Road on Monday and Tuesday, while commercial motor vehicles won’t be allowed.
Everyone who can avoid the roads next week are asked to do so by CMPD. Drivers should expect increased traffic on other Ballantyne roads, especially Johnston Road, due to the other closures and delays associated with the roadblocks.
