Bike ride to benefit area nonprofits

The inaugural Tour de Turns event will raise money soon for Friendship Trays, Loaves & Fishes and Second Harvest Food Bank.

The event, Aug. 11 at 8 a.m., is either 25 miles or 50 miles long, depending on the rider. There also is a 3-mile beginner route. Rides start at Carmel Middle School, 5001 Camilla Drive, and will wrap through area neighborhoods.

It costs $35 to register by Aug. 10, or $45 the day of the event. Money raised benefits the local food programs.
