The Business Leaders of Charlotte, or BLOC, group will hand over a check on Thursday to a local reading group.
The group will honor Promising Pages with a check presentation Thursday afternoon that will help the reading foundation get books to Charlotte kids. The money came from a May golf tournament in Ballantyne that saw more than 50 businesses take part for charity.
Promising Pages is a relatively new nonprofit which in its first year collected and redistributed thousands of books to local kids. They recently made a book donation of nearly 3,500 novels. Some 60,000 kids in Charlotte have few to no books at home, according to the group.
