Flapjacks to fight polio

Four Mecklenburg County-South Rotary Club members will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro soon to bring awareness of the fight to end polio. But first, they need people to come eat a bunch of pancakes.

Pancakes for the PEAK (Polio Ends at Kilimanjaro) will take place Aug. 11, a Saturday, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Piper Station Applebee’s, 5110 Piper Station Drive. People can get a breakfast ticket for $7, with funds raised benefiting the fight against polio.

Locals Jim Brown, Debbie Corbett, Joni Stanley and Beth Trotter will climb the African mountain.
