This year’s Patriot Gala, held in November at the Quail Hollow Club, raised $200,000 for wounded military members and their families.

The gala is part of the Patriot Charities, which support local families in need. Of the $200,000, organizers say $30,000 went to help build a specially adapted home for Sgt. Carlos Evans, a Marine and triple amputee. Another $11,000 helped buy a play set for Evans’ daughters, as well as needed items for the home. And more than $55,000 is being set aside to help construct a home for a wounded veteran in 2012 in the Charlotte area.

Next year’s gala is Nov. 3 at the Quail Hollow Club. Former Sen. Elizabeth Dole will speak.
