CHARLOTTE – Sharon Presbyterian Church will open its doors Sept. 7 for a new mid-week worship opportunity.
The program, called Worship without Weekends, seeks to bring in individuals and families who may be looking for an alternative to traditional Sunday services.
“SouthPark is a dynamic, thriving community,” said Rob Blumer, senior pastor at Sharon Presbyterian. “Many households in the area either spend the weekend at kids sporting events or taking a weekend trip to the nearby mountains or coast. To truly serve the members of our community, we need to meet them where they are to help grow their spiritual faith.”
The service will be a “lite” contemporary program, complete with music, casual atmosphere (in the Union Seminary building), fellowship opportunities and snacks to stave off hunger until dinner, Blumer said.
It starts at 6 p.m. Child care will be provided.
“We’re hopeful the community will take us up on our invitation to enjoy WOW,” Blumer said. “It promises to be a refreshing way to start the weekend.”
