CHARLOTTE – Nobel Learning Communities named William Gordon its Preschool Principal of the Year.
Gordon has served as principal of the Chesterbrook Academy Preschool on Providence Road West since April 2016. The academy is one of more than 200 schools in the Nobel Learning Communities network.
“What makes William a great principal is that he is always open to learning, and he is also a big supporter of his colleagues and their growth,” said LaSha Taylor, regional manager for Nobel Learning Communities. “William is truly a team player, always willing to step in where assistance is needed, whether it’s helping out in the office at a sister school or helping to train teachers. He wants everyone at our schools to shine.”
Gordon makes sure to greet each student at the start of each school day. He asks them how their day was at the end of the day, too.
Gordon began his career in education 14 years ago as an after-school teacher and camp counselor for Chesterbrook Academy. He worked his way up to pre-K teacher to assistant principal to principal.
“This award means so much to me, because I see it truly as a team award,” Gordon said. “It would not have been possible without my assistant principal, Candi Staines, and our teaching team. It is a testament to their hard work and dedication to improving the lives and minds of our students.”
