CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Christian School’s Chief Financial Officer Terry Efird was named the 2017 Charlotte Business Journal’s 2017 Non-Profit CFO of Year.
Efird was among 13 finalists for the award presented at the Charlotte Business Journal’s 9th Annual CFO of the Year Awards dinner on July 13 at the Hilton Charlotte City Center.
“Mr. Efird has been an integral member of the Charlotte Christian leadership team since 2003,” Head of School Barry Giller said. “He has been steadfast and selfless as he has been a faithful steward of the school’s resources. Presently, the school is as healthy as it has ever been in regards to any financial metrics and much of that is due to Mr. Efird’s leadership.”
Efird has had a 40-year career in business and finance in Charlotte. He took early retirement in 2003 from Bank of America after a 26-year financial career, as he felt God’s call to be the school’s full-time CFO.
For 14 years, Efird led the school to its strong financial position, including a reduction in long-term debt, increase in net assets, implementation of campus-wide accounting practices and oversight of six new building and campus renovation projects.
