Paul Jackson, the band director from Providence High School who died in February from cancer, was recently recognized as a Harris Teeter Teachers of Excellence recipient.
The award, which is part of Harris Teeter’s commitment to recognize excellence in education, was created as part of the Together in Education (TIE) program to celebrate teachers whose dedication and inspiring presence motivates and impacts students, colleagues and the community.
The 10 winners were selected from a list of nominations submitted by TIE coordinators. Each teacher and that teacher’s school both got $1,000 each. Jackson’s prize money was given to the Paul Jackson Memorial Fund.
