Current student athletes in grades ninth through 12th in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have only a few more days to register for free athletic screenings through a program called Heart of a Champion Day.
Pioneered by Carolinas HealthCare System, the program offers screenings such as the electrocardiogram and echocardiogram that check for heart abnormalities that could lead to sudden death or other heart-related problems, tests not typically offered during routine athletic screenings.
Students who want to participate must register at www.heartofachampion.org by Monday, May 28. Click on the “Students” tab at the top of the page.
Registration is limited to 2,000 students. CMS will provide free transportation to the screening location.
