Alexander Graham Middle School is now a Safe Place partner, a national initiative to keep young people safe.
The school can now provide students with immediate access to help and support when faced with situations that extend beyond the school day, including homelessness, abuse and anything that prevents students from having secure homes.
Yellow signs at the school will show there is an adult on campus trained to transport students to The Relatives, the local Safe Place affiliate in Mecklenburg County. Youths will then be connected with agencies and resources that can help with their situation.
The ultimate goal of the program is to reunite students with their families in an established safe environment. Find more information about the program at www.nationalsafeplace.org, and the local affiliate at www.therelatives.org.
