More than 500 Charlotte Country Day School staff and students in grades five through eight will participate in the second annual Walk for Hope at the school’s middle school campus, 5936 Green Rea Road.
Funds raised by the walk and T-shirt sales will go to Rohr Rockstars, a nonprofit organization that provides educational support for children battling cancer.
Trish Rohr, a fifth-grade teacher at the school, organized Walk for Hope. Rohr and her husband, Eric, founded Rohr Rockstars last year when Eric Rohr was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer.
“While the Walk for Hope will financially benefit an area of pediatric cancer, I really wanted to make this a teaching moment for our students,” Trish Rohr said in a news release.
The proceeds go directly to Levine Children’s Hospital Rockstar Fund to aid in the education of children getting treatment at the hospital.
