CHARLOTTE – Based on the overwhelming success of “Football Freddie and Fumble the Dog: Gameday in Philadelphia,” author Marnie Schneider, has announced that “Football Freddie and Fumble the Dog: Gameday in the Carolinas” has just been released for pre-order sales.
This will be the second book in a series that will expand to every city that hosts an NFL team.
“Football Freddie and Fumble the Dog: Gameday in the Carolinas” will take readers on a tour of the history and highlights of North and South Carolina, culminating on the Panthers’ home turf and an exciting football game.
A Philadelphia native now living in the Carolinas, Marnie’s life has been driven by football. Her grandfather, Leonard Tose, was the original owner of the Philadelphia Eagles. Through these stories Marnie shares a part of her own childhood experience as some of her fondest memories are of visiting and exploring NFL cities when traveling with the Eagles.
“Possibilities and exploration is what childhood is all about,” she said. “I want these books to touch children’s hearts and help them connect with these great cities.”
She believes this book can be a great teaching tool to help children learn about history while having fun following the characters on their way to a football game.
Tose was also the founder of the Ronald McDonald House. From him, Marnie learned the importance of charity. Her book series is her way of giving back to the many great football communities across the nation.
Marnie’s desire to provide opportunities for underserved children to participate in sports, together with her strong belief in the positive role that it can play in their development, lead her to create her own Keep on Playing Foundation.
“I founded Keep on Playing to help enrich the lives of kids through play,” she said. “When kids keep on playing, their participation builds confidence, increases motivation, and enhances their self-esteem. They learn about teamwork, and it opens the door for them to be part of positive opportunities.”
Marnie’s daughter Goldie Grace is a rising high school sophomore, and has co-authored Gameday in the Carolinas with her mom. Goldie is the third generation in a long line of football women, and loves watching football games with her two brothers. Her grandmother, Susan T. Spencer, was the first woman in pro football to be the vice president, legal counsel, and acting general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles.
