CHARLOTTE – The Ardrey Kell Theatre Department debuted its latest production, “Shipwrecked! An Entertainment,” on Nov. 30.
Aubrey Hill, a senior theater student and the play’s stage manager, brought the play to Director Terry Gabbard’s attention after she saw it during a college visit to the University of Virginia last spring.
“What started as a simple college tour turned into an opportunity to stage manage one of the most inspiring and unique pieces of theater I’ve seen,” Hill said. “’Shipwrecked!’ truly highlights every individual’s gifts but requires extensive ensemble cooperation. I am proud of the work we’ve done and think we’ve created a production unlike any show Ardrey Kell has ever presented.”
The theater department is especially excited to show off this special production to the International Thespian Society. Two judges from the ITS home office will evaluate the show. Ardrey Kell hopes to earn an invitation to present “Shipwrecked!” at this year’s International Thespian Society Festival in Nebraska this summer.
“This play has something for everyone,” Gabbard said. “It is an adventure story with a lot of heart. It is the destination where action, wonder, creativity and storytelling meet.”
