CHARLOTTE – Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is preparing for a simply supercalifragilisticexpialidocious 70th season.
To celebrate the opening of its eighth decade of creating theatre for young audiences and their families, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is opening its welcoming “Mary Poppins” to its stage for a smash hit sure to send audiences “flying.”
“This is going to be the one of biggest productions Children’s Theatre of Charlotte has ever produced,” said Adam Burke, artistic director.
The production will be so big, in fact, that it’ll take flight. ZFX Flying Effects will create the magic that sends Mary Poppins flying and audiences cheering.
Children’s Theatre of Charlotte has invited Michael Bobbitt, artistic director of Adventure Theatre MTC in Glen Echo, Md., to return to direct the production. Bobbitt brought to life the rock ‘n’ roll concert “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” during Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s 2015-16 season.
“I couldn’t think of any theatre more apt to create the magic Mary Poppins needs than Children’s Theatre of Charlotte,” Bobbitt said.
“Mary Poppins” debuts Oct. 6 and runs through Oct. 29, including a sensory-friendly performance at 11 a.m. Oct. 21 and a signed performance at 3 p.m. Oct. 28. Buy tickets at ctcharlotte.org or by calling 704-973-2828
