CHARLOTTE – Gabrielle Shain has handed over the reins of Shain Gallery to Charlotte native Sybil Godwin.
The gallery offers works from more than 40 artists, as well as consultation, acquisition assistance and schedule of exhibitions.
“Shain is one of the most influential art galleries in Charlotte, and I’m honored to carry forward Gaby’s legacy,” Godwin said. “We will continue to bring new artwork from our existing artists as well as introducing more established and emerging contemporary artists to the Charlotte community.”
Prior to her work at Shain, Godwin was the gallery manager at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta from 2007 to 2013, and assistant manager at Madison Gallery in Atlanta from 2004 to 2007.
“She has an exceptional knowledge of, and excellent track record within, the art world, and Sybil will continue to apply her discerning eye and a truly distinctive perspective,” Shain said. “With nearly 15 years of experience at some of the best art galleries in the Southeast, she is the right person to take the gallery into this exciting new chapter.”
Upcoming exhibitions will feature work by Noah Desmond (Aug. 24), Andy Braitman (Sept. 8), Chris Liberti and Eric Olsen (Sept. 22), Kristin Blakeney, Casey Matthews, and Lynn Sanders (Oct. 6), Karen Hollingsworth (Oct. 27), Jon Davenport and Christy Kinard (Nov. 10) and Josh Brown (Nov. 17).
The gallery opens 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 2823 Selwyn Ave.
