CHARLOTTE – Kimberly Mohns Roberts is releasing her new children’s book, “Just Perfect,” during a free community event Sunday, May 21, at the Charlotte School of Ballet.
The 36-page story is told through the eyes of a young ballerina with gentle words of encouragement from her mother. Mohns, a stay-at-home mom of two small children, is on a mission to inspire the next generation of confident, self-assured leaders.
“Every night, I kiss my two daughters goodnight and whisper in their ears, ‘You are perfect, smart and beautiful,’” Mohns Roberts said. “Growing up, I didn’t always feel that way, and I want my daughters to look in the mirror and see something different, something just perfect.”
The book release is timely given May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
“My hope is to combat the negative self-images that so many girls face, often beginning at a young age,” she said. “This book promotes a healthy mindset and self-image, while showing young girls that they are perfect the way that they are now – in every way, shape and form.”
The event includes a book-signing, face-painting, balloon animals and dancing 3 to 5 p.m. May 21 at the Charlotte School of Ballet, 627 S. Sharon Amity Road. RSVP to attend the free community event at www.eventbrite.com.
A raffle benefits the North Carolina Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Five percent of book sale profits will benefit local charities, including the AFSP, Girls on the Run Charlotte and YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
