The Mint Museum has two exhibits opening this weekend in Uptown.
Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial will run through September. The southern artist’s works focus on “the human spectacle and its narratives of corruption and moral strength, folly and triumph,” according to a museum news release. The exhibit, at 500 S. Tryon St., includes more than 50 large-scale paintings, sculptures and wall assemblages. A collection of Dial’s drawings is on display at the Mint Museum Randolph, 2730 Randolph Road.
Also debuting Saturday is Read My Pins: The Madeleine Albright Collection. The exhibit includes pins from the former secretary of state’s collection, and Albright herself will be in town to speak at an event July 13.
