Charlotte Concert Band ­conductor plays farewell show

Dr. Donald Morris will direct his final concert next weekend after 13 seasons as the musical director of the Charlotte Concert Band.

Morris was picked as leader of the all-volunteer group in 1999. His final concert, April 14, will feature the finale to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “English Folksong Suite,” Jan Van der Roost’s “Suite Provencal” and Julius Fucik’s “Florentiner March.” The concert starts at 8 p.m. at Queens University of Charlotte’s Dana Auditorium, 1900 Selwyn Ave.
